This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and their families about what to expect from remote education where there may be national or local restrictions, or circumstances beyond our control which require groups of children to remain at home.
When remote learning will be provided
ReRem
Remote education will be provided in the event of a full or partial school closure or for pupils who are unable to attend school for medical reasons but are well enough to learn from home.
If there is a planned school closure, remote learning will be provided from the first day of closure. If the closure is unplanned, full learning will be provided from day 2, and on day one, a skeleton programme of learning will be provided, for example reading, online learning platforms for which children can log in remotely such as Times Tables Rockstars).
Aims of our remote learning
ot
When our school is closed or attendance is restricted
Our aim is that all pupils continue learning and stay connected to our school due to a closure. If pupils are unable to attend school because of a closure, we will:
- Provide remote learning that follows the curriculum as closely as possible.
- Use familiar online platforms to share lessons, activities and resources.
- Include a mix of live sessions and independent tasks suited to pupils’ ages.
- Keep regular contact with pupils and families to support learning and wellbeing.
- Offer help if pupils need access to devices, printed materials or resources.
When an individual pupil cannot attend
If a pupil is unable to come to school, for example due to long term illness, recovery from a medical procedure or other authorised reasons, but is well enough to learn, we will:
- Provide suitable work so that they can keep up with their learning.
- Adjust our expectations based on their health and circumstances.
- Offer regular communication to support their progress.
- Provide access to live lessons through technological resources.
- Follow our procedures if a child is absent for 15 days or more due to medical needs, which may include help from the Local Authority Inclusion team.

How we will check whether your child is engaging with their work
ion
It is important that children engage with their learning activities to continue their education, however we acknowledge that each family's circumstances are unique. Communication is essential and we ask that if parents are finding things challenging to get in touch with their child’s homegroup teacher so that support can be put into place. If you need any support with technology or the Internet at home, then please contact the school office.
Safeguarding and Online Safety
