Our Learning Experiences in Phase 3 2019-2020
We have had great fun continuing our learning about the Stone Age and Iron Age. We have been looking at the clothing from these periods of time and comparing them to modern clothing. We loved dressing up!
Year 3 have also been learning some new street dance moves in their dance class. We really loved showing off our new moves to our friends.
Iron Age houses, clothes and tools
This term we have been developing our skills in football. We have learnt how to dribble, stop, control and pass the ball. We have also looked out how to successfully shoot a goal. It is important we act as a team and pass to our team players.
How to wash a Woolly Mammoth.
We have been reading "How to wash a Woolly Mammoth." by Michelle Robinson.
Amazingly when we returned to school after the half term break, 3 gigantic mammoths appeared on the ground in our phase. We have to rub and scrub to get them clean.
We looked at the story and extended the sentences by using conjunctions. It was a very exciting morning!
We had an amazing time at Hadleigh Roundhouse! We loved exploring the artefacts and gaining more knowledge about what life was like for people in the Stone Age and Iron Age. We became archaeologists and dug up amazing artefacts that gave us clues about the past. We also made own own coil, clay pots and took part in warrior school. It was such a fun learning experience. Thank you to everyone at Hadleigh Park for a great day.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
This term we are looking at our planet and how we can look after the world around us. We have been reading inspiring books on the environment and have been to the beach to pick up the litter that we could see. We have written persuasive texts to the council to see what can be done to look after our environment. We have been looking closely at maps of Southend and have been appreciating the diverse landscape we live in.
We have really enjoyed learning to play lots of different instruments. We have learnt how to play the ukulele, the recorder and the glockenspiel. We have written our own song and have accompanied it with the glockenspiel. It was great fun!
Learning about fractions is tasty! We ave found fractions in oranges and even made our own pizza fractions!
We really enjoy debating key topics in our Phase. We have recently held a debate about whether Greta Thunburg's protest in Bristol should go ahead or not. The children had some amazing points and communicated them clearly and respectfully.
Cliffs Pavilion tour- Year 2
Year 2 had an inspirational visit to the Cliffs Pavillion this term. They got to look around all of the Theatre and even got to go on the stage and backstage. They saw where the actors would stand and where the stage manager would give their commands. It was very inspirational. Maybe we will see some of the children on stage when they are older!
