KS1 Minigames - Summer 2017

 

On Thursday our Key Stage 1 athletes competed in the Mini Games held at The Eastwood Academy. They took part in 10 different activities, from ladder races, target throws, sprints, jumps, bean bag races, a sport stack station to a parachute station! The idea behind the mini games is to celebrate and instil the values of the Olympic Games, which are Friendship, Excellence, Respect, Courage, Determination, Inspiration and Equality. Our children excelled at them all!

KS1 Borough Sports - Summer 2017

 

Last Friday our Key Stage 1 borough sports team represented our school in a range of different athletics events. They competed strongly and achieved some great personal achievements. Well done everyone – this was a fantastic result!

Borough Sports - Summer 2017

 

On Tuesday our Key Stage 2 athletes had amazing success at the Borough Sports Finals. As a school individual children in their events achieved gold, silver and bronze medals.
We were so proud of all of the children as the borough sports are a real team event and with all of the children doing so well and gaining points for each of their events it meant that we achieved a 3rd place podium finish for the Field events. This is an amazing achievement, well done team a great effort with excellent results!

Hi-5 Netball - Summer 2017

 

This week our Year 5 and 6 team represented our school at the local Hi-5 Netball Tournament. They couldn't wait to return to school with the wonderful news that they had come third across the Southend schools and will be representing Barons Court at the Essex Finals in a few weeks' time. We are very proud of the team!

Year 3 & 4 Football - Spring 2017

 

On Wednesday our Year 3 and 4 Football team went and represented the school at the local schools tournament. The team did so well in the first round that they went up a division for the second round! The tournament was very competitive and everyone played really well.

Essex New Age Curling Finals, Spring 2017

 

The curling team played magnificently at the New Age Curling Essex Final on Thursday, coming third out of the whole of Essex! Well done team! Isaac said “It was really hard because all the teams were so good.” Nicole said “It was really fun playing against the other teams and seeing how good they were.” Mr Thornton said “The team played an excellent tactical game and showed some brilliant teamwork. To come 3rd in the whole of Essex is an amazing achievement, and to think we only missed out on 2nd place by a whisker! I’m really proud of them.”

Netball 7's Tournament - Spring Term 2017

On Wednesday our Phase 4 netball team attended the borough tournament and represented our school really well at the first netball tournament of the year. They won lots of games and there were some amazing points scored – well done everyone!

Emily said “It was a really fun experience and we scored 6 goals!”

Briana said “All the girls did really well and we all enjoyed it.”

Miss Richardson said “It was amazing to see the girls gelling as a team throughout the day. They played with great sportsmanship and represented the school in an excellent way. Well done!”

Creative Dance Festival - Autumn Term 2016

We were all so proud to hear of the fantastic performances of our pupils at the Dance Festival this week. Their creativity, timing and energy was amazing and they all let us know how well they did. Well done everyone!

Al-Amin  said "I liked dancing and seeing other people perform."

Anna-Mae said "I liked doing the different moves and watching others dance!"

Ryan’s mum said "The children really enjoyed their dancing – it was lovely to see!"

New Age Curling Tournament - Autumn Term 2016

On Thursday 1st December a group of children went to the borough new age curling tournament to represent our school following their attendance at the after school club. They all did amazingly well and won the tournament, which was absolutely fantastic! Well done!

Jenna –Ann said “It was definitely tricky but with practice and teamwork we made it to first!

Charlie said “At the beginning we weren't very good, but we got better and better until we won!”

Mr Thornton said “I was really proud of the team, they showed great tactical play and and super sportsmanship. They’re all looking forward to the Essex Finals and so am I!”

Reception and Year 1 Multi Sports Event- Autumn Term 2016
Some of our Phase 2 children represented the school within a range of different sports at this local tournament. The children had to use a variety of different skills such as running, jumping and catching in a variety of different challenging activities; they all had great fun and demonstrated excellent sporting skills. Well done!

Mrs Devine said “They all tried their very best and had a great time!”
Lilly said “I loved it!”
Jemima said “I had so much fun at Multi Sports.”

Key Stage 2 Cross Country Tournament - Autumn Term 2016
Phase 3 and 4 competed at the KS2 Borough Cross Country competition in October. Everybody tried their best and really did run a long way around the fields at Garons. Overall everyone did really well and there were some brilliant individual results. It was a great afternoon out for our first competition of the year and we look forward to more sporting success throughout the year.
Mr Thornton said “It was an exciting afternoon out with some fantastic individual performances and lots of support for each other as a team.”
Sonny said “It was a competitive, fun way to keep fit.”

Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby Tournament - Autumn Term 2016
Well done Barons Court  at the Tag Rugby Tournament! It was an all-day competition and we did really well; it’s great to see that we are continuing to improve each year we attend. The team played really well and demonstrated some excellent sporting skills as well as team skills – we are really proud of you!

Mr Thornton said “The team were very competitive trying their best in every game. I was really proud of their sportsmanship.”
Beau said “We might not have done as we wanted to but it was good practice and great fun.”
Kiki said “We lost and won, but it was really great fun – it’s a shame it’s the last time we will play together.”

Year 3 and 4 Girls Football Tournament - Autumn Term 2016

Our girls’ football team represented the school fantastically at the local football tournament. The all played exceptionally well and had a great time playing against other local teams. Well done everyone!
Miss Northwood said "I was so proud of the children's attitude, sportsmanship and how much their confidence grew throughout the tournament."

Lexie said "Playing football is the best experience, even if you're a girl you can play. Give it a try!"

Lillie-Mae said "Being in goal was the best thing I have done and it couldn't be more fun with my team."

An Extra Special Celebration

During the October half term Barons Court gained another award for our trophy cabinet! The Southend Sports Award panel have chosen our school for the most improved school in P.E. for 2015. This is an amazing achievement and the independent panel recognised our school commitment to swimming, our improved ranking in tournaments and our overall quality of PE provision. Keep it up and well done!

Mr Thornton said “It is brilliant that the school has been recognised for this achievement. It is a real testament of the competitiveness and hard work of the children and the teachers.”

Essex Finals Netball Tournament

We really enjoyed ourselves again this year at the Essex netball finals and we are really pleased to announce that we came 8th across all of the Southend AND Essex schools.

The Sports Captains said “At the netball tournament we were very excited to be representing Southend at the Essex finals. We played 10 games and won 4; this led us to 8th best primary school netball team in the county! We also met the England netball player Lindsay Keable! We are very proud of our netball achievements and hope the netball spirit will live on!”

I would also like to personally congratulate all of the children who participated in our Essex Finals – this was a fantastic achievement and we are all very proud of you being the best team in Southend! Well done

Borough Sports and Key Stage 2 Swimming Gala - Summer 2016

We are so proud that our school reached a podium finish for the first time ever in the Borough Sports this summer! Well done! This year's Borough Swimming Gala was also a huge success for Barons Court finishing 4th our of 8 schools. Well done everyone!

Key Stage 1 Tag Rugby Tournament

Our Year 1 and 2 Tag Rugby team went and represented our school at the annual Key Stage 1 tournament. The children all had a great time and demonstrated some excellent rugby skills, especially passing. Thank you to all of the adults who also went and cheered us on, Well done everyone!
